Paying much attention to the concave areas as well as the convex helps in bringing a drawing to life. Many artists, even art schools, fail to teach it. For example, you draw and shade many cones and spheres, but not much shapes like...vert ramps(?).
Keep drawing, yeah?

I will stop to appreciate a flower on the sidewalk.

And with much practice you certainly will be.

Just a quick tip for shadows, if you want to get it to look accurate, try drawing a still life object from around your house with a light nearby. (But not too close.) This way, you can see where the light touches and where the shadows are.
